Our mission is to empower students, parents and educators with the tools and training they need to show up with confidence in their homes, their classrooms, and in the lives of the children they serve.
Founder & CEO
Dr. Alexis Johnson is an accomplished educator with over 15 years of experience and a deep passion for children and families. Her approach is simple: meet each child where they are, give them room to grow, and provide space for them to be heard, to try, and to do things on their own. She believes children thrive in environments grounded in clarity, consistency, and care; where routines, expectations, and daily practices support both learning and behavior.
Her journey began in the classroom, where she quickly realized the challenges many new teachers face: feelings of being lost, unsure, and lacking confidence in what to do next. Having walked that path herself, Dr. Johnson has gone on to coach and mentor educators, focusing on building classroom rapport, strengthening instruction, and creating effective classroom management systems. She believes the foundation of great teaching begins with relationships, knowing students as individuals and tailoring support to help them succeed.
Her professional journey has included roles as a classroom teacher, educational administrator, district-wide literacy coach, and early interventionist. Beyond her formal work, Dr. Johnson has spent countless hours supporting friends, family, and her community with practical strategies for learning and early intervention. It was in these moments that she saw a major gap; many parents want to help their children, but often don’t know where to start.
Throughout her career, Dr. Johnson has led and supported literacy improvement efforts across diverse educational settings, including private preschools, Flint Community Schools, Linden Community Schools, and the Genesee Intermediate School District. Her work has focused on strengthening early literacy instruction, increasing teacher confidence, and improving student outcomes through practical, classroom-embedded strategies.
In her independently designed 10-week literacy intervention for preschool classrooms, Dr. Johnson supported measurable gains in student learning, including an 11% increase in letter identification, letter-sound knowledge, and syllable awareness. Equally significant, educators participating in the intervention reported a 48.1% increase in confidence and effectiveness in literacy instruction, reflecting the impact of clear routines, intentional practice, and instructional clarity.
Dr. Johnson has also worked extensively with students and families impacted by the Flint Water Crisis, providing literacy-focused support rooted in trauma-informed practice, accessibility, and trust. These experiences further shaped her commitment to equitable literacy instruction and reinforced her belief that strong foundations—built through consistent routines and responsive teaching—can change learning trajectories for children and communities alike.
Blending real-life experience with research-based practices, Dr. Johnson makes her teaching both practical and powerful. She believes the best educators learn through trial and error, and she carries that same spirit into her work with families and schools. This philosophy led to the creation of PREP Institute, a framework centered on Positive Routines, Expectations, and Practices that help align learning at home and in school.
Her determination and grit are rooted in her hometown of Detroit, while her persistence and grace come from being the first in her family to graduate from college. Don’t let the “doctor” title fool you; Dr. Johnson has faced obstacles and challenges that make her deeply relatable to everyday families. One of her most personal lessons came after her second child was born deaf with significant delays. Through patience and literacy-focused strategies, she watched her child’s language grow, and Dr. Johnson's passion for early literacy grew even stronger.

Math Coach
Coach Bryce is a talented high school student with a gift for math and a heart for helping others. Though only a junior in high school, he has already earned his place as a dual-enrolled college student at Southern Crescent Technical College.
Bryce’s love for numbers began early. By 7th grade, he was already taking 9th grade math and went on to excel in Honors Geometry and Advanced Honors Algebra II in high school. What started as helping his younger sibling with math grew into supporting classmates and families in his community.
With so many changes in math instruction, many parents struggle to help their children with homework. Bryce understands this firsthand, as it was a challenge in his own home. That’s why he connects so well with families; he not only teaches strategies for solving problems, but also breaks them down into simple steps, helping students understand the “why” behind the math.
Coach Bryce is known for his quick thinking with numbers, his patience in teaching, and his ability to find the root of misunderstandings. His mission is to make math less stressful and more approachable for every child and family he supports.
